A. Definition 

    What is definition of short functional text?
    Short Functional Text is a short (reading) text that has certain meanings and functions that are                commonly used in everyday life. 

B. Purpose

    Short functional text aims to help readers understand information quickly.

C. Types / kinds of

     Kinds of Short Functional Text :

·       Notice

Notice is a written instruction or statement that provides certain information or a warning to people.

·       Greeting Cards

A greeting card is a form of card usually accompanied by an image that is sent to someone for certain occasions.

·       Memo

Short messages are written information that you can send to other people.

·       Advertising

Advertising is a general statement or writing about a product. The goal is to convince readers and listeners to be influenced to use it

·       Announcement

Announcement is an open statement to be known by the general public. The goal is to convey something to listeners and readers

 D. Structure Of Short Functional Text

·       Notice

Ø  Opening : contains an introductory picture

Ø  Content : contains details or description

Ø  Closing : contains a hope for others

·       Greeting Cards

Ø  Receive : people who receive

Ø  Content : contains of greeting card

Ø  Sender : people who send 

·       Short Massage

Ø  Receive : people who receive

Ø  Content : contains of greeting card

Ø  Sender : people who send

·       Advertising

Ø  The name of the product

Ø  The selling points of the product

Ø  How to get the product

Ø  Interesting design

·       Announcement

Ø  The title or type of event

Ø  Date or time, place

Ø  Contact person              

      E. Sample

       - My daughters, mom and dad had to leave town for work. Mom already cooked soup. Warm the soup if you want to eat. Mom also left some money for you if you want to buy snacks. We will be home this afternoon. -Mom (short massage)

F. Writing

Sorry friends for yesterday's problem I accidentally. I want to apologize to you and I hope you will forgive me, I want to invite you to meet at Cafe Senja this evening at 3 for my apology, I hope you come... -Your Best Friend (short message)
