Describing Place

1.      Definition

A good description of a 'place' helps to explain what makes it so different from other 'places' and can give a good guide as to where it is located. A description can be divided into two parts: the Physical features and the Human features.

Lawang Sewu

The city of Semarang has various iconic colonial buildings, one of which is the colonial Lawang Sewu building. Lawang Sewu is a silent witness to the existence of Dutch colonialism and how culture developed in the past.

      Etymologically the word Lawang Sewu comes from the Javanese language which means "a thousand doors". The mention of Lawang Swu is based on the number of windows and doors in this building, although the number does not touch the number of a thousand doors.

Currentl y the Lawang Sewu building is managed by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) which has been converted into a museum and gallery about the history of railways in Indonesia.

The Lawang Sewu building has two main buildings where each building has two buildings A and B, as well as C and D. Building A is the building facing Tugu Muda and has two twin towers. This building has many large stained glass, has a main staircase in the middle and a pathway to the underground passage. Right behind building A, there is building B which has 3 floors. Floors 1 and 2 of this building are used as offices while the 3rd floor functions as an attic. 


5.       Writing

        Sampookong is one of the Confucian religious places of worship in Semarang. besides that this place is also included in one of the places visited as a tourist spot.

This place is very interesting to visit because there is one icon that really describes this place, namely the Ceng Ho Statue which is 10.7 meters high (more or less). besides that there are many places in this pagoda that look interesting.

This place also has several facilities for visitors such as clothes rental places, places to eat, bathrooms and places to just relax.

Therefore come to this place while there is still a chance !!
